Civil Paralegals (to Trainee)
Our junior staff play a vital role in the practice and are viewed as our solicitors of the future. We therefore believe in providing a paralegal role which is varied, client facing and which offers you the opportunity to show your talents from the outset.
This is a role within our civil and private client teams, which means that you will have the opportunity to work across various areas of law including clinical negligence, property, disputes, wills, estates and corporate/commercial. In addition you may also have to assist other teams as required.
We are a firm that deals with complex and demanding work, recent key cases include:
• Various clinical negligence settlements between £14m and £26m
• A £2m shareholder dispute and unjust enrichment claim
• The acquisition and disposition of central London restaurant chain valued in excess of £2m
• Declarations before the court in relation to the status of a Will along with an injunction of the estate pending determination of issues with assets in excess of £1m
• Landlord and Tenant disputes involving various injunctive order and determination proceedings
You will be treated as a fee earner from the outset, so you must be comfortable working within targets and be adaptable to what needs to be done on a day to day basis. Our clients are at the heart of everything we do and we only generate our work through recommendations or long standing client relationships, so the ability to consistently deliver is of critical importance to us.
The main responsibilities for this role are:
• Assisting heads of department and senior solicitors in relation to client matters
• Drafting documents and attending upon clients and the court as required
• Instructing experts and external third parties
• Attending court or other tribunals for the purposes of observing proceedings and reporting the outcome
• Progressing cases to conclusion and dealing with post completion matters
What are we looking for?
• You will have at least one year of solid and relatable civil experience – preferably in litigation or private client matters
• You will have a passion for what you do and always go that extra mile for clients
• You will be a self starter and adopt a “can do” approach
• You will be a team player
• You will be keen to learn and develop your skills with a view to carving yourself out a niche within the business
• You will be looking for career progression
We recruit all our future trainees from our existing paralegals and we have training contracts which will commence next year for the right candidate(s).
